This Lortone combination lapidary unit can complete each step from rough to finished cabochons in one compact and durable machine. Sealed ball bearings are rubber mounted for quite, smooth operation. Includes a hinged top shield for easy cleaning, large saw coolant tank, blade guard, splash guard, and drain plug. Use a gravity feed water drip system such as the Overhead Water System. Requires 2 quarts of cutting oil.

Creating in stone doesn't have to be "a grind". You can cut, shape and polish gemstones with speed and ease if you have the right tool for your particular job. Just as a hammer and saw are the basic tools of a carpenter, so is the grinding/polishing machine and rock saw the basic tools of the lapidary. The Diamond Pacific gem-makers are top performers because of the diamond grinding and polishing wheel, the way they are made, and their special grit combination. They work fast and efficiently, giving you a beautiful polish on most stones in a matter of minutes.
The procedure is simple. Grind your cabochon to shape on the 80 grit Galaxy metal-bond diamond grinding wheel, then proceed to the 220 grit Galaxy wheel to remove all deep scratches. Coarse sanding is done on the 280 grit Nova resin-bond diamond wheel. Spend enough time on this wheel to completely remove all scratches left by the grinding wheels -- usually only a few minutes-- then proceed to the three Nova wheels on the right for final sanding and polishing. Most stones properly prepared on the grinding wheels and the 280 Nova will take only a few minutes more on the three remaining Novas to achieve a fine polish. For those stones needing another step, we include a pad and diamond compound.
