Mineral Test Kit
"Mineral Identification is the process of elimination using the properties of minerals. As you test for each property, you narrow the possibilities of what it might be by eliminating what is not...." This kit contains minerals samples of different hardness (based on the Moh's Hardness Scale) and some basic tools to test for hardness.
*Nine Specimens to Test for Hardness
"Over a century ago, Friedrich Mohs by experimentation made up a scale of hardness which is somethimes referred to as Mohs'scale..." Diamond is the hardest and is given the # 10; talc is the softest so it given the #1. Here is a numbered set of stones to practice on 1 through 9. There is no diamond example.
*Introductory Rock Collection that includes a chart of "The Rock Cyle".
